PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – When voters go to the polls in Portland on Tuesday they will decide if possession of marijuana will be legalized in the city.

With election day fast approaching one group finally announced its opposition. The Maine Public Health Association sent out a news release stating public health officials say no to question 1. In the release Executive Director Tina Pettingill stated “The link between negative public health, safety and financial indicators and the use of marijuana has been well documented”.

It’s unclear how active the group will be between now and Tuesday. Supporters on the other hand say they’ll be very active, going door to door to get their message to voters this weekend.
