ROCKLAND, Maine — A 21-year-old St. George man was scheduled to make his initial court appearance later Monday afternoon after being charged with stealing medical marijuana from a field.

Travis J. Young was arrested Friday evening and charged with stealing drugs and criminal trespass. He was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland where he remained Monday.

An affidavit filed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in Rockland District Court stated that the sheriff’s office responded to a report of a theft of marijuana from a South Thomaston field on the night of Sept. 29. The owner had apprehended one man and was holding him until police arrived. A second man fled on foot, however, according to the police report.

The man apprehended at the scene — Corey Robbins, 19, of Warren, was charged with theft and criminal trespass. He was released on bail, according to court records.

Robbins told police that he and Young had parked a car near the field and then walked to the field to steal some marijuana. The marijuana, worth less than $500, was recovered that night.

Sheriff Donna Dennison said police only recently located Young and then obtained the arrest warrant which was served on him Friday night.
