Ray Logan, of Gorham, hosts a three-hour seminar in growing. He brought it to Auburn’s Fireside Inn, in Auburn, on Saturday.

Logan says he’s no expert, but has grown the plant for years and has basic agricultural knowledge enough to teach the classes, which combine instruction about plant biology, physics, business and law.

Maine approved the use of medical marijuana as of March 2010, allowing people with valid prescriptions — or family members and registered caregivers — to have up to 2½ ounces of harvested marijuana and six plants per patient.

He tells the Sun-Journal that 95 percent of his students are medical marijuana patient.
