Greater Cincinnati medical marijuana sales could start next week

Doing business next to what’s expected to be Greater Cincinnati’s first medical marijuana dispensary will be a big plus for Doug Crace.

“We’re in a strip mall here,” Crace said. “We want that foot traffic. We want that busyness, the name recognition (and for people) to see our big sign.”

Crace is a manager at Anytime Fitness, which is next to About Wellness Ohio, the only dispensary in Warren, Clinton and Clermont counties.

One of the dispensary’s owners told WLWT investigator Todd Dykes the facility has passed its final state inspection and that the goal is to start selling cannabis to patients next week.

Crace has no problem knowing marijuana sales will soon be commonplace just a few feet from his gym’s front door.

“It’s becoming more and more normal,” he said. “A few years ago, people would have been like, ‘Wow, really? Here in Lebanon, little, you know, old Lebanon, Ohio?'”

On the other side of the dispensary, Jennifer Price feels the same. That’s because medical marijuana patients might decide to stop in the shop she manages, Cato Fashions.

“We’re excited to, you know, have the new people next door so we can have new people come in and shop with us,” Price said. “They’ve been doing a lot of work over there, and we’ve been excited to have them next door.”

Lines could be long when the dispensary opens. A total of 31,075 patients have received recommendations for medical marijuana statewide. Officials have not released county-by-county patient numbers, citing,
