AUBURN — City police arrested a Boston man Saturday and seized 41.6 pounds of marijuana from the trunk of his car.

Oleg Spektorov, 29, of Boston.

Oleg Spektorov, 29, of 499 Summer St. told police he was a medical marijuana caregiver but was unable to explain the amount of marijuana in his car, according to a press release from the Auburn Police Department on Monday.

According to that release, at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Officer Joseph Miville stopped a car on Washington Street South, with inoperative taillights. Miville “detected the overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” searched the car and found the pot bagged in plastic and paper bags, according to police. The officer also seized a small amount of hashish oil and items used to manufacture hashish oil.

Spektorov was charged with felony aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and misdemeanor possession of a Schedule X drug and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail.

He was released Sunday on $25,000 cash bail and is scheduled to make his first court appearance Dec. 30.
