Marijuana caregiver arrested on heroin charges in Maine

A certified marijuana caregiver in the state of Maine has been arrested on heroin charges after it was found that he was selling the drug to non-qualified patients.

The police said that they have arrested two men, one of whom is a certified marijuana caregiver on a variety of drug trafficking charges at their home in Short Road home. The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said that they have arrested Hubbard and Spencer McGarey on drug related charges, according to Stephen McCausland, state Department of Public Safety spokesman.

Hubbard was charged with Class C trafficking with schedule Z drugs (marijuana) and Class C possession of hydromorphone while McGarey has been charged with Class C trafficking in schedule Z drugs including marijuana and Class C trafficking in schedule W drugs, heroin.

Hubbard is a certified marijuana caregiver under the Maine Medical Use Marijuana Program. The police officials found that he was selling the drug to non-qualified patients from his home. Undercover agents from the Mid-Coast District Task Force purchased marijuana from Hubbard and heroin from McGarey before they were arrested.

Maine State Police and deputies from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office were part of the investigations.
