Libertarian could win bloc in Maine

LEWISTON — If you’re like most Maine voters, you’ve probably never heard of Gary Johnson.

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson as he appears in a YouTube campaign video. Some political observers in Maine believe Johnson could pull as much as 5 percent of the vote in Maine, giving the party official status in the Pine Tree State. Johnson is also expected to appeal to Maine Republicans who favored Texas Rep. Ron Paul over the party’s presidential nominee, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
