The Gardiner Planning Board is scheduled to review an application Tuesday for a medical marijuana growing operation in the South Gardiner area.

The board, meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, will conduct a site review for CBD Headquarters LLC to use part of a warehouse building at 650 River Ave. for the production of medical marijuana products.

Nate Rudy, director of economic and community development for the city, said a site review is the most extensive review conducted by the city for new businesses. He said the proposed use is allowed in the zoning district.

Rudy said although some people may think negatively of medical marijuana, it is a highly regulated industry.

“We feel fairly comfortable that Gardiner can support an operation of this kind,” he said.

The applicant, Eli Poulin, declined to talk about his proposal.
